![]() This Saturday 21 March is the first {love} Handmade Samford market for 2015, for my first blogpost I will share a little about our makers and the mission of the market. The market runs every second month in pretty Samford and this year we will continue to define our presence and work to produce innovative events that encourage connection between maker and community. With a foundational mission of providing a home to makers to showcase their wares in their own neighbourhood, new applications are sought all year round from those wishing to get behind the pop up feel of the market by setting up shop for the day. Our community of makers is a creative ecosystem, we are continually striving to evolve and grow. This is our country market and we have a very particular purpose: to lovingly showcase handmade design in a beautiful country setting close to Brisbane. The backdrop of the Samford Valley is an important attraction as is the late 1800's Old Samford Church Hall - the short drive from Brisbane is well worth the thirty five minutes to capture the country getaway feel. We have a very special lineup of makers this month, diverse and inspiring, with products proudly made in Brisbane. Some stall highlights include: 1. Mish n Mesh 2. Pattie Murray Ceramics 3. Nadine Sawyer Art 4. Helen McDowall Design 5. Jane Bluehorn 6. Peas & Carrots Photography 7. Poppy Wynter Designs 8. Tickle the Imagination magazine We will be running a craft activity inspired by Tickle the Imagination Issue 19. Patrons will be invited to draw spots and stripes on art paper and turn this into an arty garland. The workshop will run 1.00pm to 2.00pm, there is no charge to participate. This is a magazine produced in Western Australia by Tanya Collier and celebrates all things beautiful and handmade in Australia. The three guiding words of the publication are dream, create and inspire. Each issue is produced around these words with maker stories, craft tutorials and contemporary styled shoots. Matthew Taudevin will perform from 11.30am onwards, he has a handmade guitar, there is not another in the world like it Matthew tells me. I have seen how his music comes to life with an audience, so be sure to gather around him, watch his graceful fingers play and listen to his acoustic loveliness. ![]() Very much looking forward to welcoming you and introducing you to our beautiful family of makers this Saturday! We won't be back again until 16 May 2015 in Samford, so be sure to pop in and support handmade. xx Janmaree
