Lil Sis and the Guru
Super cute bags to help you organise your life.
I started creating the waterproof storage range to make it simpler for people to reduce their use of plastic bags, straws and cutlery. By easily and hygienically carrying their items with them. I also wanted easily identifiable bags in the house to hold shoes, puzzles, gym gear, cables and so on! I designed a collection of various sized fabric drawstring bags to help keep me organised. Next up is a true zip lock bag replacement, not for food, but for the other ‘stuff’ they get used for like rock collections, hair ties, cables, etc.
I work from my home studio, a small little space I affectionately call ‘the sewing cave’. Once I have a spark of an idea for a product, I have one notebook I use to keep all my drawings, some ideas never make it past the notebook. This is the time I need to consider size and construction methods, how I can get the product to work the way I want it to and what materials I will need, or use what I already have. My products are all based on a few standard sizes to minimise fabric wastage. Bringing my drawings to life is always the most exciting and frustrating part. Things don’t always go to plan, and there are many ‘not quite right’ items in my personal collection and my families too. They are the ones that have too many seams completed to unpick and start again. Everything is made with care and function in mind. My aim is to keep the cost as low as possible, so more people can access items to make their reusable life easier. The threads may not always match perfectly, but everything looks good and is made to last. I don’t offer wholesale and very rarely run a sale. My profit margins are low and I pass that benefit onto my customers. We are all living on this planet together after all, so why not work together to make a difference. - Kristy Muchow
